JEE Main Exam; National testing agency which is NTA conducts JEE Main examination for admission B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Planning in Indian engineering colleges. NTA has announced the examination date. The exam of JEE Main will be on January and April

JEE Main Exam is a computer-based online exam conducted by National Testing Agency which is NTA for pursuing undergraduate courses in top engineering institutes in India. It is one of the first stages of the exam for IIT admission.

JEE Main exam will conduct two times a year means twice a year. The first session of JEE Main exam will conduct in January, and the second session will be held in April, these dates are only expected, no official announcement has been made by NTA. The entrance test will be conducted in two shifts: morning and afternoon. Aspirants must check the JEE Main eligibility criteria before applying for the JEE exam. They should also know JEE Main syllabus so that they can prepare for JEE Main.

JEE Main Overview

JEE Main is a standardized test conducted in various states of India. The exam is conducted at the undergraduate level to provide admission to some of the best engineering and technical institutes funded by the government or privately owned.

JEE Main is usually conducted for 3 groups of candidates:

Paper 1 is for the students aspiring to pursue BE. or B.Tech. syllabus.

Paper 2A B. For the students who want to take Arch. syllabus.

Paper 2B is for the students aspiring to pursue a B Planning course.

JEE Main will be conducted in 2 sessions, which will be in January and May.

The questions that come in NCERT are mostly JEE Main based. However, it is known for having difficult questions designed to test candidates’ understanding of concepts and analytical skills.

Important Terms and Latest Changes in JEE Main

  • The number of sessions will remain the same as JEE Main last year, ie two sessions (April and May sessions).
  • There will be negative markings for JEE Main Sections A (MCQs) and B (Numerical Value Questions).
  • Candidates need to download and install the SANDERS app on their smartphones. This will be a secondary channel for receiving notifications from NTA.
  • Slight changes have been made in the application process to enable the candidates to fill out the form easily and in short sections. During the registration process for the exam, at first only Session, 1 will appear, and candidates can opt for that only. Session 2 registration will be opened at a later stage of the JEE Main.
  • A mandatory field in the JEE Main application form to be filled in is the annual income of the family, which includes the annual gross income of the father or guardian, and the gross annual income of the parents and mother, from other sources.
  • The choice of examination cities for the test will be based on the permanent and present addresses filled in during registration.
  • During the registration process, candidates need to enter the OTP received on their registered mobile number or an e-mail address before submitting the application fee.

JEE Main Registration

The exam conducting authority NTA usually opens the registration process before the final exam for JEE Main. For, registration is expected to take place in two instances. Registration for session 1 is expected to start in March and will be re-opened for session 2 at a later stage. Candidates can register for JEE Main by visiting the official website only. Students also have to pay the application fees online only. JEE Main Reservation Criteria

OBC – 27%

SC – 15%

ST – 7.5%

As per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, 5% of all seats in all colleges are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

Telangana offers three different state quotas including the home state quota, the Andhra Pradesh state quota, and another state quota

5% of the total seats are reserved for women candidates in all the participating institutes in the seat allotment process through JEE Main 2023.

50% of seats in NITs are under the home state quota and another 50% come under another state quota.

If any home state quota seats remain vacant, they are converted into All India seats for the same category.

JEE Main exam Eligibility

The first thing you as a JEE 2023 aspirant need to do is ensure that you fulfill all the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2023. In this, you have to take care of aspects like educational qualification, nationality, and age. There are also several exemptions available for certain categories, so check whether you fall into those categories as well. Educational Qualification for JEE Main exam

  • You must have passed or appeared in 10+2 or equivalent examination in 2020 or 2021. If you are appearing for your class 12 exam in 2023, you can apply for JEE Main 2023.

Application form

After the release of the application form, candidates can visit the official websites of NTA – nta.ac.in or jeemain.nta.nic.in – to view and fill the same. Aspirants of exams have to fill out and submit the online application form. There is no provision for offline submission of the Application Form. NTA will not accept any form which is not submitted online. After the release of the application form by NTA, you will be able to see an ‘Apply Online’ link which will take you to the application form.

Instruction for online application form step-by-step process to fill

Following are the steps you need to follow in order to fill out the Application Form:

  • To apply for the exam, visit the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on ‘Apply Online’.
  • An application form page will open.
  • Fill out this application form.
  • When prompted, select New Record. You may be asked for some basic details like your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, category, nationality, educational details, and your exam center preference.
  • Once registered, you will be asked to upload scanned copies of your documents in a specified format and size. Be sure to adhere to the document specifications to avoid rejection of your application.
  • Pay tuition online or offline mode
  • Check all the information entered by students in the application form. Students may not be able to change some of their details later.
  • Submit your application form.
  • After submission, you will see a confirmation page. Take a print of the front page for reference purposes.
  • On completion of this process, you will receive a Provisional Registration Number on your registered mobile number and email address.

Application Form Correction for JEE Main 2023

JEE Main Admit Card

JEE Main 2023 Admit Card will be issued by the officials. Students can visit jeemain.nta.nic official website. – To download the hall ticket. Candidates are first issued provisional JEE Main 2023 admit cards. The student’s form will be considered valid only if all the eligibility criteria are fulfilled. The important details about students mentioned on the admit card are:

Students should keep the admit card safe even after the exam, as students will need to carry it till the counseling round as well. Experts suggest that you should keep your admit card safe until you get admission to an institute.

JEE Main Syllabus

National Testing Agency (NTA) has not released JEE Main Syllabus 2023 yet. Cut-off for IIT

JEE Main 2023 cut-off for IITS will release on the official website of Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) – josaa.admissions.nic.in. Cut-off for GFTI

Cut-off for NITs

To get admission in top engineering colleges in India including IITs, NITs, and other CFTIs, students must score a minimum of 75% marks in their class 12th board exams along with JEE Main pass marks. For the reserved category, students must have a minimum of 65% marks in their class 12 along with JEE Main pass mark.

JEE Main mock test

Since JEE Main exam can only be taken in computer-based online tests, the conducting authority has set up several practice centers to help engineering aspirants get familiar with the exam format.

Students can access online mock tests for JEE Main by visiting the website (www.nta.ac.in) for practical exercises. Earlier, students could also visit practice centers set up by the National Testing Agency and take the test. This facility is now available this time.

List of GFTIs Institution in India

Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) is a list of 27 premier technical institutes funded by the Government of India. As per the official date, the number of seats available for the academic year 2015 was around 9,260. It follows the same academic and admission system as NITs and IIITs.

Admission process

From the academic year onwards, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting admission to 28 government-funded technical institutes through its website.

Prior to 2016, admission is done on the basis of merit obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination – Main. 60% weightage is given to JEE-Main marks and 40% weightage is given to 12th (HSC) marks. From 2017, there is no weightage for 12th board marks.

Seat allotment is subject to merit while seat acceptance is subject to payment of Rs.35,000/- within 2-4 days for Open and OBC, and Rs.20,000 for SC and ST. Also, seat acceptance does not mean admission, a candidate offered and accepted a seat will have to report to the allotted institute in person and pay the balance fee demanded by the concerned institute.
