There are 20 IIMs in India and different IIM\nconduction examination every year.&nbsp; This\nyear CAT examination conducted by IIM Indore for admission in all 20 IIMs,\nIIT-DoMs, FMS Delhi, IMT, IMD, SPJIMR and 500+ business management institute in\nIndia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The examination will conduct on 29 November 2020 in three\nshifts. The details given below;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CAT 2020 &#8211;\nSCHEDULE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Test\nDate: Sunday, November 29, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duration:\n120 minutes or 2 hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>160\nminutes or 2:40 hours (For PwD Candidates)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time:\nForenoon Session \u2013 08.30 am to 10.30 am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Candidates\nreporting time: 7.00 am. Candidates NOT allowed entry post 8.15am)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time:\nAfternoon Session \u2013 12.30 pm to 02.30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Candidates\nreporting time: 11.00 am. Candidates NOT allowed entry post 12.15pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time:\nEvening Session \u2013 04.30 pm to 06.30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Candidates\nreporting time: 03.00 pm. Candidates NOT allowed entry post 04.15pm)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates\nare advised to reach the Test center at least 30 minutes prior to Gate closure\ntime<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Admit Card: <\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The Admit Card issued is provisional. Candidature is subject to\nthe Candidate having paid the applicable CAT 2020 Test Fees and fulfilled the\neligibility criteria of Academic qualification, Category, PwD status etc., as\nhas been mentioned in the Application submitted. These details would verify in\nthe subsequent stages of the Selection process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admit Card is the most important document on the Exam Day. Please download\nAdmit Card from CAT Website and recheck following details mentioned in the\nAdmit Card: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Name <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Application Number <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. PwD status <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Date and Day of Test <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Test Times and Session <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Reporting\/ Entry time at Centre <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Gate Closing Time of Centre <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Test City <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. Test Center address <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary reference identity of the Candidate would be the\nApplication Number. The Application Number printed on the Admit Card would be\nused only for identifying the Exam Lab\/Console in the Test Center on the Exam\nDay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Dos for Candidates:<\/strong> <\/li><li>Print the\nAdmit card on an A4-size Paper, preferably using a Laser Printer &#8211; Admit Card\nis valid only if the Candidate&#8217;s photograph and signature images are legibly\nprinted. <\/li><li>2Make\nnecessary arrangements for travel, food, accommodation (if any) and any other\nexpenses (including those on account of medical emergencies). <\/li><li>Before\nleaving for the Test Centre, Candidates are requested to verify and carry their\noriginal ID proof and the printed CAT 2020 Admit card. <\/li><li>Use the Google\nmap link embedded on the electronic version of the Admit card to locate the\nTest Centre. Identify mode of transport and commute time at least a day before\nthe Exam Day in order to reach the Test Centre on time on the day of the Exam. <\/li><li>Ensure to\naffix the Photograph, as required, in the space provided on the Admit Card\nbefore handing over for verification at the Test Centre. Affix the same\nphotograph which was uploaded during the application process. <\/li><li>Report at\nthe Test center at 7:00 a.m. IST for the Forenoon Session, 11:00 a.m. IST for\nthe Afternoon Session and 03:00 p.m. IST for the Evening Session. <\/li><li>Maintain\nsilence and remain in Queue during (a) entry to the Test Centre (b) temperature\ncheck using thermo gun (c) document verification (d) IRIS and Photo capture (e)\nexiting the Test Centre.<\/li><li>Cooperate\nwith Test Center staff during document Verification and frisking. <\/li><li>Use the\nbarcode printed on the Admit Card, to check the location of Exam Lab from the\nBarcode desk. <\/li><li>At the Console, use the Mouse to select the right Option as answer\nfor an MCQ and to use the on-screen Keyboard to answer a non-MCQ. <\/li><li>Return Writing Pad with all pages intact post completion of the\nExam to the Invigilator. <\/li><li>Ask for any help required in course of the Exam from Test Centre\nInvigilator present in the Exam Lab. <\/li><li>Mandatorily provide your attendance in the Form with signature\nwhen asked for in the Exam Lab. <\/li><li>After the Exam, hand over the duly signed Admit Card to the\nInvigilator present in the Exam Lab. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Don\u2019ts for the Candidates:<\/strong> <\/li><li>Avoid\nattempting to appear for CAT 2020 Exam more than once. Candidature will be\ncancelled if a candidate is found to appear for the test multiple times. <\/li><li>Do not\nrequest entry into the Test Centre post 8:15 a.m. for the Forenoon Session,\npost 12:15 p.m. for the Afternoon Session and post 04:15 p.m. for the Evening\nSession. <\/li><li>Do not carry\nany prohibited items such as electronic gadgets etc. inside the Exam Lab. <\/li><li>&nbsp;Do not attempt to cheat or copy answers from\nothers during the Exam. <\/li><li>Do not\ninvolve yourself in any arguments with other Candidates or Test center staff.\nDecisions of concerned authority will be treated as final on the test day. <\/li><li>Do not use\nthe keyboard at any point of time; this will lock your computer system. <\/li><li>Do not\ndisturb other Candidates. <\/li><li>Do not\nrequest for a bio-break while inside the Exam Lab unless it is a Medical\nemergency. <\/li><li>Do not have\nfriends and relatives accompany you beyond the Test Centre gate. <\/li><li>Do not request for change of Test Centre\/Exam Lab\/Console on the\nExam Day. <\/li><li>Do not wear any jewelry (or any item(s) containing metal),\nShoes\/footwear with thick soles, and garments with large buttons inside the\nExam Lab. <\/li><li>Do not use Mobile phones, Electronic Gadgets, Watches,\nCalculators, own Stationery items, Wallets, and\/or Goggles. <\/li><li>Do not provoke any other Candidate to commit or participate in any\nform of malpractice. <\/li><li>Do not waste Writing pad pages as it is distributed only once per\nCandidate during course of the Exam. Do not carry any page from the Writing Pad\noutside the Exam Lab after the test. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4<strong>. The time allotted to each Section would be 40 minutes (53\nminutes and 20 seconds for PwD Candidates). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. As soon as the Candidates start answering a section, the clock\n(displayed on the top right corner of the screen) would start ticking and would\ndisplay the remaining time available to complete the current section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. On completion of 40 minutes, the timer would reach zero,\ncurrent section would be Auto submitted and the Candidate would be\nautomatically moved to the next section. The Candidate can then start answering\nthe next Section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. The same process would be repeated for all three Sections. For\nPwD Candidates the process would be the same as above except that for each\nsection they would be given 53 minutes and 20 seconds. However, there would be\nan option for submitting the answers of a section at any point of time after\nthe completion of 40 minutes. Thus, they would have an option to complete the\nTest between 120 minutes and 160 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Candidates would be allowed to leave the Exam Lab only after\nthe completion of 120 minutes. For PwD Candidates, which would be between 120\nminutes and 160 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Some Questions would be of multiple-choice type (MCQ) and some\nare of non-MCQ type. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. At the\nMain Entrance to theTest Center: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Securitypersonnel at Main Entranceof Test center would check the\nAdmit Cardbefore allowing Candidates to the enter Test Center premises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Frisking\nofCandidates: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates would be frisked with Handheld Metal Detectors prior to\nentry to the Test Center premises \u2013 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Security personnel, both Male and Female, would be available to\nfrisk Candidates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Separate canopy\/enclosure would be present for frisking Female\nCandidates by Female Frisking staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Only Admit Card, Photo Identity Card, mask, sanitizer, required\nMedical certificate and Scribe affidavit (if any) would be permitted beyond the\nFrisking Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Socks, plain Pullovers\/Sweaters\/Cardigans (without any pockets)\nare allowed inside the Exam lab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Candidates with metal implant, pacemaker, etc. in their body,\nrequired to bring a supporting medical certificate of the same at the Test\nCentre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. All personal belongings would be kept aside at this point.\n(Note: IIMs\/CAT Test centre authorities would not take any responsibility for\nany loss of items). There would be no facility at the Test Center for\nsafekeeping of Candidate\u2019s personal belongings and the Exam conducting Agency\nwould not responsible for its damage or loss if any. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7. Document\nVerification: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After completion of the frisking process, Candidates would be\nasked to proceed for Document Verification. Candidate\u2019s Admit Card (with\naffixed photograph), *original photo identity proof and **other documents (if\nany) would be checked at this Desk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Candidates would also produce at least one original (not\nphotocopied or scanned) valid (not expired) photo identification (ID) card\n(such as College ID, Employer ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter\nID, Aadhar Card, and Identification Affidavit) along with the Admit Card. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Candidate&#8217;s photograph and signature should be legibly printed\nand visible on the photo ID card and should match the name on the Admit Card.\nPlease note, the photo ID card should not be damaged or smudged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>** Medical certificate would be required in case of a Candidate\nusing any (a) Pacemaker or (b) implants (metal) or (c) other device(s) for\nMedical reason(s). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After\nsuccessful Document Verification \u2013 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Candidates would be allowed to move to their respective Exam\nLab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. After entering the Test Lab, Candidates would not be allowed to\nleave the Test Lab before the Exam ends, unless it is a medical emergency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Candidates would be advised to remove their footwears outside\nthe Exam Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8.\nRegistration Process: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Post Document Verification process, Candidates would be asked to\nproceed for the IRIS and Photo Registration \u2013 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. During the Registration process, Candidate\u2019s IRIS and\nphotograph would be captured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Candidates would be required to sign the Attendance Sheet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. The assigned Invigilator would read out the Instructions before\nthe Exam begins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>9. Exam\nCommencement: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Invigilator would inform Candidates to log in to the Console.\nCandidate would be allowed to use the mouse or on screen key board on their\nallocated system to log in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>10. Exam\nformat: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: The computer mouse must be used for answering the questions.\nUsing the computer keyboard will lock the computer system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once candidates are ready to take the Exam. Please note the\nfollowing important information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. For all Candidates, the Medium of the Exam is English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. The Exam would have (3) three Sections \u2013 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Section 2: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Section 3: Quantitative Ability (QA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Some Questions would be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type\nwith Options to select and some would be non-MCQ type. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d. No mark will be awarded for questions which are not attempted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>e. For all MCQ type, a wrong answer would result in -1 Mark. There\nwould be NO Negative Mark for a non-MCQ type question. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>f. A virtual keyboard would be displayed on the screen which is to\nbe used for a non MCQ. Use the mouse to operate the virtual keyboard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>g. Usage of external\/physical calculator would not be allowed;\nhowever, a virtual Calculator would be available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>h. Each Section is allotted 40 minutes \u2013 with a total time for the\nExam being 120 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;i. PwD candidates would be\ngiven an extra 13 minutes and 20 seconds for each Section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>j. The timer on the Screen would display the remaining time for\nthe Section being answered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>k. On completion of 40 minutes, the timer would reach \u2018Zero\u2019 and\nthe Section would be locked. The \u2018Submit\u2019 button would be enabled. By clicking\nthe \u2018Submit\u2019 button the Candidate can move to the next Section, else Exam will\nbe auto-submitted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>l. Candidates would not be allowed to leave the Exam Lab before\ncompletion of the Exam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>m. PwD candidates would be allowed to submit their answers to a\nSection at any point of time between 40 minutes and 53 minutes and 20 seconds.\nPwD candidates would be allowed to leave the Exam Lab between 120 minutes and\n160 minutes depending on the time taken to complete the Exam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While answering the questions, Candidates would use the following\noptions: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Save &amp; Next: Saves Response\/Answer and moves to the next\nQuestion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Clear Response: Clears the selected Response\/Answer for the given\nquestion only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Mark for Review &amp; Next: Would mark the question for review\nfor later. The question may either be answered or may not be answered. If\nanswered, the Response\/Answer would be recorded and alsomarked for reviewing later.\nAt the end of the section time, this question would be considered as\n\u2018Answered\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel on the right-hand side would display the status of\nattempted questions in four colours that indicate the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Green \u2013 Answered questions but not marked for review. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Red \u2013 Questions visited but neither answered, nor marked for\nreview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Grey \u2013 Questions not visited or viewed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4) Violet \u2013 Marked for review but not answered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5) Violet with a green tick mark as a subscript \u2013 Questions\nanswered but marked for review. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates would also be able to view other details such as: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Question Paper: View the entire question ofa particular\nSectionat a time by clicking on the \u201cQuestion Paper\u201d button at the top right\ncorner of the screen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Profile: View information related to Candidate profile by clicking\non the \u201cProfile\u201d button at the right of the screen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Instructions: View the Exam-related instructions at any point of\ntime by clicking on the \u201cInstructions\u201d button at the top right corner of the\nscreen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o Calculator: Access the on-screen calculator, the icon of the same\nis located immediately above the Timer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the Exam is complete, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Candidates would need to provide their Feedback on Exam\nexperience on the Form available on their Console <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Candidates would need to return the Writing Pad to the\ninvigilator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Note: Please do not tear out and retain any page from the Writing\nPad. This may adversely impact the Candidature.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11.\nBio-Break: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are advised to take bio break (if any) before entering the\nExam Lab. Candidates would not be allowed to take a bio-break inside the Exam\nLab unless it is a Medical emergency or there is a Doctor-certified medical\ncondition (e.g. for a Diabetic patient). Candidates would be escorted by a Test\ncenter staff during bio-break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12. Leaving\nthe Exam Lab: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates would be allowed to leave the Test Lab only on\ncompletion of Exam. All Candidates would be expected to remain seated till the\ninvigilator instructs them to leave. Candidates would need to return the\nWriting Pad before leaving the Test venue. (Please note only one Writing Pad\nwould be given per Candidate). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>13. Breaks\nduring theTest: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the Invigilator has signed-in a Candidate, Candidate would\nnot be allowed to leave the Test Lab until the end of the Test period. If for\nany unforeseen requirement, the Candidate would need to step out of the Test\nLab, the same would be allowed only with an escort. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>14.\nAppearing in More than One Shift for CAT 2020: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates will not be allowed to appear in more than one Shift.\nIt would be deemed as a fraudulent activity if a Candidate is found to have attempted\nto appear more than once for CAT 2020. Candidates, who attempt to take the Exam\nmore than once, would be disqualified from the Selection process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15. Computer\nBased Test (CBT): <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAT 2020 is a Digital or Computer Based Test (CBT), not an\nInternet-Based Test (IBT); i.e. a Candidate would not take the Test on an\ninternet site. Instead of reading the questions from a Paper booklet and\ndarkening the ovals on the Answer booklet, a Candidate would read the questions\non a computer console and choose the answer by clicking on the correct option\nfor the MCQs and for non-MCQs on the Console. The answers would be inserted using\nthe mouse or the onscreen keyboard in the designated space. A timer would bed is\nplayed on the screen that would indicate time left to complete the Test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>16. Persons\nwith Disability (PwD)Candidates: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All PwD Candidates would be assigned Rooms either on the ground\nfloor or on any other floor that is accessible by an Elevator. All Test Centres\nwhere PwD candidate are scheduled, would have a designated PwD Coordinator to\nassist the PwD Candidates. PwD Candidates with Scribe should carry Scribe\nAffidavit along with them selves at Test centre. Candidates can find a sample Scribe\nAffidavit in the CAT Website (www.iimcat.ac.in). PwD Candidates will get\npriority entry into the Test Centre and would be given an additional 13 minutes\nand 20 seconds per section to complete the Test. Thus, PwD Candidates would\nhave a total time of 160 minutes to take the Test. PwD Candidates who have opted\nfor a Scribe (shown on the Admit Card)would be allowed to bring a\nScribe(Candidates would have to arrange for the scribe. CAT\/TCS authorities\nwould not arrange the scribe). There would be no eligibility criteria for a\nScribe, but the Scribe would need to submit an Affidavit in the prescribed\nformat, duly signed both by the Candidate and by the Scribe. All PwD\nCandidates(with or without Scribe)would be given a time extension of 40mins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, wheel chair support would be provided by the Test\ncentre to Candidates who have requested for the same. (This would be indicated in\ntheir admit cards). \u2018Zoom\u2019 feature would be enabled on the Candidate Test\nConsole, for all Candidates with visual impairment and for any other Candidate\nwho would have requested for it. (This would be indicated in their Admit\nCards.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>17. Test Day\nException Forms: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates wouldbe required to sign an Exception Form in case if\nany exceptional situation arise on the Exam Day. Test Centre staff would guide\nthe Candidate to fill out such Exception Forms as applicable. Concerned authority\u2019s\ndecision on exceptions will be treated as final on the test day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>18.\nAuthorization Form <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates must carry IIM provided Authorization Form to carry any prohibited or exceptional items inside the Exam Lab due to medical reasons.
