Sourav Ganguly became the 39th President of BCCI<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sourav Ganguly, Former Indian captain took over as the\nBCCI’s 39th president on Wednesday. He will now head the world’s richest\ncricket board. Ganguly, the 47-year-old former and one of the best Indian captains\nof his time, was officially given the charge of heading Indian cricket for the\nnext nine months at the BCCI’s General Body meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as Ganguly took the office, the rule of the Committee of Administrators which is constituted by the Supreme Court came to an end. Ganguly was unanimously nominated for the post of BCCI President. In the meeting, Jay Shah son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah was made the secretary of the Board. Mahim Verma of Uttarakhand became the new vice-president of BCCI and Arun Dhumal, who is the younger brother of former BCCI president and current junior finance minster Anurag Thakur, became the treasurer. Jayesh George of Kerala took the position of joint secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the information released by BCCI, Ganguly will have a tenure of 9 months and will have to step down in July, as the cooling-off period will begin after a six-year term under the provisions of the new constitution. He became a joint secretary of the Bengal Cricket Association in 2014. In this way, 47-year-old Ganguly will complete six years as a cab officer in July 2020. The cooling-off period is three years old and during this period, he cannot hold any post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his era of equaling 65 years old records, Ganguly, <\/a>who has made many big records on the cricket field, has equaled 65 years old Maharajkumar India’s record as soon as he sat on the chair of the president. Actually Ganguly is the second Indian captain to become the BCCI President. Before him, in 1954, Maharajkumar of Vizianagaram was the first former captain of India who became the BCCI President.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ganguly<\/a> said, \u201cIt’s an honor that I have been asked to take this role. It’s a new start for the BCCI\u201d.\u00a0 He also added, “I find myself in a position where I can make a change and it’s a challenge,”. Sourav Ganguly<\/a> has set some goals to bring the administration back on track. His Goals include an increase in the salary of first-class cricketers, at the same time, good cricketers will have to be brought in the Cricket Advisory Committee and National Selection Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
