Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is a state university in Rohini, Delhi, India. DTU was established in 1941 in Delhi, as Delhi Polytechnic. DTU started awarding degrees to students in 1952 after it was affiliated with the University of Delhi. The institute is under the Government of Delhi since 1963 and was affiliated with the University of Delhi from 1952 to 2009. In 2009, the college was granted university status, thus changing its name to Delhi Technological University.

DTU Academy
Delhi Polytechnic
The Delhi Polytechnic was seen as a follow-up to the Wood and Abbott Committee of 1938. Delhi Polytechnic was established in 1941. The technical school was created to meet the demands of Indian industries. At that time, Delhi Polytechnic offered courses in Arts, Architecture, Commerce, Engineering, Applied Sciences, and Textiles. Walter William Wood became the founder and principal of Delhi Polytechnic. It became Delhi’s first engineering college and was one of the few engineering institutes in India established before independence.
Delhi Polytechnic was considered the National Diploma equivalent to a B.E. degree by the erstwhile UPSC. The college was affiliated with the University of Delhi in 1952 and started formal degree-level programs.
DTU (Delhi College of Engineering)
Until 1962, the college was under the direct control of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. In 1963, the Delhi Polytechnic was taken over by the then Delhi Administration, and the Chief Commissioner was the ex-officio President of the Delhi College. DTU later became a college of the Union Territory of Delhi. In 1963, the Department of Arts became the College of Arts, and the Department of Commerce and Business Administration was converted into several institutions of commerce and secretarial practice. The disintegration of the Delhi Polytechnic eventually left an engineering institute alone. the Year 1962, the college was got affiliated with the University of Delhi. In 1965, Delhi Polytechnic was renamed Delhi College of Engineering and became the first engineering college in Delhi, now known as Delhi Technical University.

The Department of Architecture of Delhi College of Engineering became the School of Planning and Architecture, now a Deemed University and Institute of National Importance. The Department of Art and Sculpture became the College of Arts and the Departments of Chemical Technology and Textile Technology were shifted en-block to mark the beginning of IIT Delhi in its new campus at Hauz Khas. Later the Department of Commerce was abolished and the Faculty of Management Studies of the University of Delhi was established by Professor A Das Gupta of DCE. The Delhi Administration established the Delhi Institute of Technology (presently Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology) in 1985 and the new college was established under the aegis of the Delhi College of Engineering. The DCE shared its campus with the NSIT in the Kashmere Gate campus, although later, the NSIT was shifted to Dwarka as a follow-up to the Wood and Abbott Committee of 1938. Delhi College of Engineering is thus the mother institution of many national institutions. In July 2009, the Delhi College of Engineering was upgraded from a State University to a State University under the Central Government through the Delhi Technical University Bill, 2009, and renamed Delhi Technological University (DTU). PB Sharma was named the first vice-president of the university. Chancellor. The move was met with protests from students over the erosion of the DCE brand (due to a downgrade from a central university to a state university) and a reduction in the perceived value of their degrees. DTU Campus
The Delhi Technological University (Delhi College of Engineering) operated from the Kashmere Gate campus in the heart of Old Delhi until 1989, when construction began on the new campus on Bawana Road in May. Operations began in 1995 on the new 164-acre Bawana Road from Kashmere Gate, and the new campus formally started classes for all four years of study beginning in 1999.
The new Delhi Technological University such as DTU campus is well connected by road. Facilities include a computer center, a library, a sports complex, six girls’ hostels, eight boys’ hostels, and a married couple’s hostel. The campus has residential facilities for teachers and staff. The complex has an auditorium and two open-air theatres, one of which is called OAT (Open-Air Theatre) and the other is called Mini OAT (Mini Open-Air Theatre).
In 2010, DTU made plans to make the campus eco-friendly, including excluding vehicular entry into the campus, producing one-third of the energy from alternative sources, and designing new buildings according to the “Green Architecture Concept”. ,
DTU opened a campus named “University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (USME)” in 2017 at Vivek Vihar, East Delhi. The new campus offers management courses for undergraduates and postgraduates. Presently, USME, the eastern campus of DTU offers courses in MBA, MBA Business Analytics, BBA, and BA in Economics. USME offers 60 seats for MBA students and 30 seats for the MBA Business Analytics program. Admission to MBA is decided by CAT score and further rigorous group discussion and personal interview. In addition, there are 120 seats each for BBA and BA (Hons) Economics. Admission to the courses is merit-based.

DTU Admission Process
Joint Entrance Examination – Admission for a full-time Bachelor of Technology degree at DTU is through the Joint Admission Counseling Delhi (JAC-Delhi) process, based on the All India Rank (AIR) obtained in the Main Examination.
The admission of foreign students in DTU is through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme. Tech (Lateral Entry) program at DTU is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the State Diploma Examination. Admission to the evening study program (part-time course) is based on a common entrance test.
Admission to the postgraduate degree in DTU is based on performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) qualifying examination. If two or more candidates have the same GATE score, then the merit will decide the qualifying percentage in undergraduate courses. No separate exam or interview is conducted by the university. However, admission for NRIs, Foreign Nationals, and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) is done on the basis of merit/score in the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The medium of instruction for all courses in the university is English.
Admission to the Bachelor of Design program at DTU is done on the basis of a UCEED score.
Admission to the MBA program at DTU is based on the Common Admission Test (CAT) exam, followed by Group Discussion and Interview.

DTU Research
DTU students participate in projects such as Formula SAE Car, Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV DTU), SAE Mini Baja, ASME HPV, Hybrid Car, Solar Car, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Design and Development of Innovative Embedded Devices, Which are appreciated all over the world. and the creation of a biodiesel production plant.
Leading by the Defianz Racing team that participates in the Formula Student Competition, many student teams collaborate with universities in other countries and actively participate in international and national competitions. The college also came up with the development of a personal proponent – Mitra, one of the TIFAC core (relevance and excellence center of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council) in Delhi College of Engineering Fiber Optics and Optical Communication. The technical team UAS-DTU has been exceptionally successful, designing and building a prototype UAV, Aarush X-1, with funding and mentorship from Lockheed Martin, USA. It also stood third in AUVSI Student Unmanned Air System (SUAS) Competition, 2012. The team has developed several prototype UAVs and expands its UAV count every year.
The solar car team, DTU Solaris, was the country’s first solar electric vehicle team, having developed the two-seat passenger solar electric vehicle “Arka” in 2012. Its previous design – the Avenir, won the most economical car award at WSC 2011.
The campus of DTU has been proposed as a site for the Delhi government’s plan to make Delhi research and IT hub. A Knowledge Park has been set up at DTU as part of better infrastructure for Delhi.
DTU was selected by Intel Technology Pvt Ltd. Ltd. to join the Planet Lab Consortium, which includes the world’s top universities and industrial research laboratories such as Princeton University, the University of Washington, and NEC Labs as members.
DTU organizes various events/conferences/seminars throughout the year so that the students of other engineering institutes/organizations can also be benefitted. Organizations like ASME, SAE, IEEE, IET, MACS, etc often organize such events.
The largest waste-to-energy plant in any educational institution in North India is operational at DTU. The university is now constructing a sewage treatment plant on its 164-acre campus in Rohini, Delhi.
Team DTU Super Mileage participated in the Shell Eco-Marathon, which was part of the inaugural Make the Future India Festival in Chennai, held at Madras Hippodrome. He clocked 154kpl in his vehicle in the Urban Concept internal combustion engine category. A total of 20 teams participated in the event in two categories: Prototype (futuristic vehicles with incredible aerodynamics) and Urban Concept (traditional, roadworthy, energy-efficient vehicles aimed at meeting the real-life needs of drivers). ).
UAS-DTU won 1st place for the ‘Flying Formation Challenge’ in the Drone Olympics at the biennial Aero India Show 2019. Cultural events
DTU organizes its own cultural and educational festivals. While cultural festivals are a break from study and include events such as music festivals and fashion shows, academic festivals form a common platform for students and academics across the country to meet and showcase research.
DTU’s cultural festival, Engifest is held every year in February. Angifest plays host to various events like Star Night, Rock Show, Drama, Dance, Drag Show and more. In the past Angifest has been celebrated through the performances of Euphoria, Parikrama, Indian Ocean, and renowned artists like Amit Trivedi, Sidhu Moose Wala, Raftaar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Divine, Nucleya, Mohit Chauhan, Vishal, Shekhar etc.
The university’s festive season begins in January and ends in March. Yuvan, Literature and Film Festival (YLFF) is the first festival of the festive season, which is scheduled in the third week of January. 2019–20 online end-term exam protest
DTU witnessed online protests amid the administration’s decision to conduct AI proctored online end-term exams in June-July 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The protests saw the #cancelDTUexams trend on Twitter with articles in media outlets such as Education Times, Navbharat Times, Hindustan Times, India TV and Career 360. The students have cited that [clarification needed] conducting intermediate semester exams is a clear violation of the UGC guidelines. Other reasons cited by students include lack of resources, incomplete courses after the lockdown, internship and skill development courses, mental stress (many people haven’t even stepped out of their homes for months due to COVID-19), online exams not being conducted. has been Top engineering institutes like IITs to cancel exams.
