Jamia Millia Islamia University, first woman VC Najma Akhtar will be honored

Professor Najma Akhtar, the first Vice-Chancellor (Vice Chancellor) of Jamia Millia Islamia University, will be honored on May 26 at the University. In April 2019, Prof. Najma took over as Vice Chancellor of the University. Tatt Ahmad was the Vice Chancellor of Jamia before him. Please tell that Prof. Najma is Jamia’s first female vice-chancellor. Before him, the Chancellor of Najma Heptullah Jamia, Manipur’s Governor has been appointed.

For this post, the names of IIT-Delhis SM Ishtyak and Association of Universities General Secretary Furqan Kamar were also recommended. The President elects these posts. They approve these names as the visitors of Central University.

Professor Najma was nominated by the President Ramnath Kovind as the Vice Chancellor of Jamia. He Prof. Najma has been appointed the Vice Chancellor of Jamia for five years. Pro. Najma was first associated with the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA). He started the first state level management institute (SIEMET) in Allahabad. Gold medal received from Aligarh Muslim University Najma has also received education from the University of Warwick.

Jamia Millia Islamia University was founded in 1920. This is the first time since establishment that when a woman has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor. After that iftar party has also been organized in the university campus after the ceremony.
