Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) is responsible for conducting MBA admissions in Andhra Pradesh. However, deemed universities are free to conduct their own admission process for MBA course in Andhra Pradesh. Only a limited number of management colleges in Andhra Pradesh accept national-level entrance exam score for MBA admissions. 95% of government and private management colleges in Andhra Pradesh accept state-level entrance tests score for MBA admission. Therefore, it is mandatory for students in Andhra Pradesh to appear for the state-level management entrance test, i.e., AP ICET 2020 for admission in MBA course for the academic session 2020-22. Entrance Exams Accepted by Andhra Pradesh MBA Colleges:

Almost all the government and private MBA colleges in Andhra Pradesh accept AP ICET score. Institutes such as IIM Visakhapatnam (CAT only), GITAM Deemed University, KL Deemed University and Institute of Financial Planning and Research accept the score of national-level entrance exams such as CAT and MAT. Deemed universities like GITAM and Koneru Lakshmaiah Foundation for Higher Education also conduct separate entrance test for those without AP ICET/ CAT/ MAT score. GAT conducted by GITAM is one of the popular national-level management entrance exams in India. Students can appear for multiple entrance exams to improve their chances of securing admission.

Eligibility Criteria for MBA Admissions in Andhra Pradesh:

Basic Requirements: In order to get MBA admission in Andhra Pradesh, aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized college or university with 45 – 50% marks. Students with arrears in any of the semesters or years of UG are not eligible to apply for AP ICET 2020 exam and secure admission in MBA course. Final-year UG students can apply for AP ICET 2020 and the seat will be allocated only after the completion of the UG course.

Entrance Exam: AP ICET score is widely accepted across management colleges in the state. Therefore, it is mandatory for the students to appear for AP ICET exam. Students belonging to General category should score minimum qualifying marks in AP ICET prescribed by APSCHE. For reserved category students, there is no minimum qualifying mark. Students can also appear for GAT conducted by GITAM to secured admission in GITAM Institute of Management – Visakhapatnam.

Domicile Rules: Students belonging to Andhra Pradesh state are only eligible for MBA admission under convenor quota (state quota). Students from other states can take admission under management quota of the institutes. There are no domicile rules for GITAM GAT.

Andhra Pradesh MBA Admission Procedure and Important Dates:

MBA admissions in Andhra Pradesh are purely based on AP ICET score or rank. On the other hand, MBA admissions in GITAM are based on GAT/ AP ICET/ CAT, while KL Deemed University accepts MAT/ CAT/ AP ICET score.

Andhra Pradesh MBA Selection Process:

AP ICET 2020 Selection Process: APSCHE will begin the admission/ selection process under convenor quota for MBA course based on AP ICET score 2020 in June or July. Students who secured a rank in AP ICET 2020 will have to register for AP ICET 2020 counseling process.

The initial stage of the counseling process is certificate verification followed by exercising web options and seat allotment. The seat allotment is purely based on AP ICET 2020 rank. APSCHE may conduct two or three rounds of the counseling process. Students who do not secure a seat in the first round can take part in the next round of counseling. 80% of seats in private MBA colleges in Andhra Pradesh are filled under convenor quota.

Selection Process based on Other Entrance Exams: GITAM deemed university shortlists the candidates based on GAT/ AP ICET/ CAT score. The shortlisted candidates will have to take part in GD (Group Discussion) and PI (Personal Interview) for final selection. KL Deemed University also follows the same admission process.

Direct MBA Admission/ Management Quota Admission: Students without a valid AP ICET/ GAT/ CAT/ MAT score can apply for direct admission. However, these admissions are treated as management quota admissions and institutes do not offer fee concession. Students applying for MBA admission under management quota will not get state government scholarships.

Andhra Pradesh MBA Admission Reservation Policy:

During the MBA admission process, APSCHE will allocate seats as per the reservation policies of the AP government. The seats are divided into two categories: –

  • Convenor Quota
  • Management Quota

Reservation policies do not apply for 20% management quota seats in private MBA colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
