IITs and NITs has Changed the admission Criteria for Session 2020; not Required 75% marks in Class 12.

Human Resources Development Minister (HRDM) Mr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal announced on twitter that National Institute of Technology (NITs) also has change the admission criteria for session 2020. Earlier Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) also change the admission criteria for this current session due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. As per the norms of admission criteria in IITs, NITs and any Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) was, students needed to clear JEE Main and usually for general students must score 75% in class 12 board exam or rank among the top 20 percentile in the qualify exam and for SC/ST students must score 65% in class 12 board or rank among the top 20 percentile in the quality exam with JEE main score.

COVID-19 has created major education disruption however CBSE, CISCE and several state boards has canceled their 10th board and other examination. Several governments’ funded and private university also cancelled their annual and semester examination and students got promoted to next year as per previous performance. The central seat allocation board (CSAB) has decided to change the admission eligibility criteria of NITs for this academic year.

“For admissions in #NITs & other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, apart from qualifying #JEE Main, the #eligibility is to secure a minimum of 75% marks in XII Board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations,” Pokhriyal tweeted.

“Due to prevailing circumstances, Central Seat Allocation Board (#CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other #CFTIs,” he said.

“JEE Main 2020 qualified candidates will now only need to obtain a passing certificate in class XII examination irrespective of the marks obtained,” he added.
