NEET UG exam ; No plan exists to hold the NEET UG twice a year, according to Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, who made this clarification today in the Lok Sabha. The National Testing Agency now conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) once a year as an eligibility/entrance test for medical courses in India (NTA).

The government was questioned in the Lok Sabha if it was willing or planned to schedule the NEET UG exam according to the JEE Main exam timetable in order to lessen the stress and anxiety associated with exams for students pursuing careers in medicine. Ramesh Chand Bind, a member of the Lok Sabha, asked, “Whether the Government proposes to conduct NEET UG examination on the pattern of JEE (Mains) to provide two chances in a year to save NEET aspirants from stress and depression in cracking the difficult competition in single attempt only or lose one precious year.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) have stated that there is no proposal to conduct NEET UG exams for providing two opportunities in a year, Pawar then clarified.

He further stated that according to the government, NEET has contributed to reducing medical malpractice across the nation. “NEET is a historic change that supports meritocracy and gives deserving students the chance to enrol in the nation’s top medical schools. It has reduced fraud in medical admission, increased transparency, and relieved prospective students of the pressure of taking numerous entrance tests, according to Pawar.

The NEET UG syllabus, he continued, is based on the curricula of all state and national boards.
