IGNOU New Journalism Courses

IGNOU New Courses; IGNOU launches 3 specializations in master’s degrees in journalism. IGNOU was established to provide high-quality higher education opportunities to all societal groups while serving the Indian population through remote and open education. Additionally, it seeks to enhance India’s human resources through education by promoting, coordinating, and setting standards for distance learning and open enrolment. It serves as a national resource centre and protects and promotes international standards for distance learning in India. IGNOU is home to the Secretariats of the Global Mega Universities Network (GMUNET), which was first funded by UNESCO, and the SAARC Consortium for Open and Distance Learning (SACODiL).

By utilising cutting-edge technologies and methodologies and ensuring system convergence for the vast human resource needed for fostering integrated national development and international understanding, IGNOU, the National Resource Centre for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) with international recognition and presence, will provide seamless access to sustainable and learner-centric quality education, skill upgradation, and training to all.

Beginning with the January 2023 admissions season, the Indira Gandhi National Open University which is IGNOU New courses will offer three specialised master’s degree programmes in journalism. Open and distance learning formats are used to deliver these courses. The PG Diploma in Advertising and Integrated Communication, the MA in Development Journalism, the MA in Journalism and Electronic Media, and the MA in Journalism and Digital Media are the three newly launched specialised master’s degree programmes. New students will be accepted into these programmes starting in January 2023.

IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nageshwar Rao introduced three specialised master’s degree programmes at a ceremony on Friday.

Professor Nageshwar Rao said in his introductory remarks, “The School of Journalism and New Media Studies offers these programmes to help students who want to specialise in a particular branch of journalism. IGNOU provides a range of lateral departure and entry options for these programmes so that students can continue their education whenever it is most convenient for them.”

A general master’s degree in journalism and mass communication is already offered by the school, and it can be obtained online, through distance learning, or in an open-style format. He added that this particular general programme is available in three languages: English, Hindi, and Tamil.

Because IGNOU provides flexible lateral exit and entry possibilities, students can pursue these programmes whenever it is most convenient for them. According to the statement, programmes help students build a range of skill sets and reflect the most recent media business trends.
