
Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) was established in July 1976 in response to the lack of doctors serving in rural communities and lack of specialist in the urban centers of Mindanao. Its College of Medicine was thus the first such college to be set up in Mindanao and it is dedicated to provide medical education and training for the highest education, thereby providing effective medical care in both rural and urban communities.
A consortium, whose members are the Ateneo de Davao University, Brockenshire Memorial Hospital, the development of the People's Foundation, the San Pedro Hospital and the San Pedro College, conduct the foundation. It has been approved by the Higher Education Commission (CHED) and is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock, non-profit organization.
Students are connected to the Davao Medical Center, Dao Doctors Hospital, San Pedro Hospital and the Brockenshire Memorial Hospital for their diagnostic turns in the third and fourth years of their courses. Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) offers three courses MASTER IN COMMUNITY HEALTH, MASTER IN HEALTH PROFESSIONALS EDUCATION & MASTER IN PARTICIPATORY DEVELOPMENT.
This school is located on the site of about 2.5 hectares of Davao city center, which claims a stable climate in terms of weather and its politics. There are five universities within the city borders, as well as many schools and colleges.
