JEE Advanced 2023 Overview

JEE Advanced is the second phase of JEE and is a national-level engineering entrance test. Joint Entrance Examination Advanced is known as JEE advanced and it is considered one of the most challenging undergraduate admission examinations. It is an engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). This exam is formerly known as the Indian Institutes of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). But it was renamed JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is an academic examination that is held every year and is conducted by one of the seventh zonal IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).  JEE advanced is mandatory and the only prerequisite for admission to IITs.  Only those students who have successfully qualified for the JEE Main examination are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced. Other Universities like the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs), and the Indian Institute of Science also use the JEE Advanced scores for admission in their programs. JEE Advanced is organized by one of the IITs on a rotational pattern. Being a very tough entrance exam, its qualification rate is very low. It was only about 0.92% in 2017. This year JEE Advanced was conducted in 2022 both in India as well as abroad. A total of 2.45 Lakhs students are eligible for JEE Advanced but only 1.61 candidates appeared for the Exam. JEE Advanced is conducted every year to fill 10,988 seats in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

History of Joint Entrance Examination

  • In 1961, IIT-JEE was conducted for the first time and it was known by the name Common Entrance Examination (CEE).
  • Till 1998, English paper was a part of the examination but after that, it was discontinued as English section was not considered for ranking participants performance in the JEE examination.
  • With effect from 2018, JEE Advanced started being conducted in online mode.

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2023

The Eligibility Criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced 2023 have been officially declared by IIT Guwahati and are given below

  • Candidates must rank among the top candidates in JEE Main examination for being qualified for JEE Advanced Eligibility.
  • There is a bar on the age limit. Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1998. There is a 5 years relaxation for the reserved category.
  • Candidates can attempt the examination only two times in two consecutive years.
  • Candidate must have passed the 12th class Board Exam in the previous year.
  •  Candidates who have earlier been admitted to any IIT are not eligible to appear for the exam.

JEE Advanced Exam Dates 2023

JEE Advanced exam will be conducted in the month of June and it is conducted once a year. This JEE Advanced Exam Date is conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Registration for the examination started on 30th April 2023.

JEE Advanced Registration Process 2023

The last date for JEE Advanced Registration and application form filling date has been announced by IIT Guwahati. Before applying, Candidates must check the Eligibility criteria specified by conducting IIT. If a candidate is found not eligible after filling out the form, then he will get rejected.

  • Registration - The candidate has to register for JEE Advanced 2023 by visiting its official website and then entering JEE Main roll number and Password.
  • Upload Documents - The documents required for uploading should be scanned properly and should be of the specified size.
  • Payment of Application Fee - Pay the application fee in only online mode. The fee is not refundable
  • Submission - Now submit the application form and a printout should be taken off the confirmation page for further reference.      

JEE Advanced Pattern 2023

JEE Advanced is a computer-based online entrance exam that consists of two papers. Both papers Paper I and Paper II are mandatory. JEE Advanced is conducted in two shifts one from 9 am to 12 pm and the other from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The duration of both papers is three hours each. JEE Advanced Exam Pattern can be attempted in either English or Hindi medium. The paper on JEE Advanced is divided into three sections namely Physics, Chemistry, and Math. The number of questions asked in this examination is not fixed. It goes through changes every year. Candidates are given full, partial, zero, and negative marks for according to the questions asked in the examination.

JEE Advanced Question Paper 2023

JEE Advanced is one of the toughest exams in the country for admission to engineering courses. This year only 250000* candidates are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced. To crack JEE Advance, hard work and practice are required. The preparation for both stages of JEE Entrance must be started at least 2 years earlier. JEE Advanced Exam center 2023

This year JEE Advanced is scheduled for 2023. IIT Guwahati under the guidance of JAB will conduct JEE Advanced 2020.JEE Advanced Exam Centres are set up in 161 cities for JEE Advanced 2023  Candidates have to choose centers from the available location options. Exam centers are selected during registration. The exam center once allotted cannot be changed under any circumstances. The centers are located in different IIT zones. The five centers must belong to any one IIT Zone.

JEE Advanced Admit Card 2023

As IIT Guwahati is going to conduct the JEE Advanced 2023, it will release the Admit Card online mode from May 29, 2023 (Monday, 10:00 IST) to June 04, 2023 (Sunday, 14:30 IST). Only those candidates who have registered for JEE Advanced are eligible to approach for the Admit Card. Following is the procedure to download the JEE Advanced Admit Card.

  • Go to the official website of JEE Advanced 2023
  • Here you will find an official admit card link, click on the link
  • You will be directed to the Candidates portal
  • Enter all the required information like Registration number, Mobile number, etc.
  • Your admit card will appear on the screen
  • Check it and then download it.          

JEE Advanced Result 2023

The JEE Advanced Result is declared online mode by IIT Guwahati. IIT Guwahati conducted the examination this year so the result is also declared by it. The result is declared in PDF form containing successful candidates category-wise All India Ranks (AIR).

Following are the steps to download the result of JEE Advanced 2023.

Step 1: Visit the official website of JEE Advanced i.e. jeeadv.ac.in.

Step 2: Login using your Registration number, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, and Email Address.

Step 3: Click on submit and then your result will appear on the screen.

Step 4: Download it and take a printout of it.

JEE Advanced Cut off 2023

JEE Advanced Cut off is the minimum score required for admission to IITs. Cut off of JEE Advanced will be released in the form of Opening and Closing Ranks for every participating institute. Candidates have to secure a rank above the cut off to get a seat in IITs. Merit list of qualified candidates is also released with the cut off list. Cut off is affected by many factors. Following are some of the factors:
