
First Moscow State Medical University (MSMU, officially I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, informally Moscow Medical Academy, Russia) is the oldest medical school in Russia, located in Moscow. The University was established in 1758 as a medical faculty of Imperial Moscow University as the first medical school in Russia. The institution was the separated from the Moscow State University and become unattached in 1930. The University was assigned a new name after Russian physiologist, Ivan Sechenov, in 1955. That was known as I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Institute of Medicine so long as 1990 and I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy from 1990 to 2010.
The University is a center of training, certification and education for the medical staff and pharmacists. The University has many buildings for different types of classrooms and lecture halls, clinical center, a research center, library, publishing section, laboratories, botanical garden and several student hostels. The University has nine campuses. The University has grown up into an Academic, Research and Recourse Centre of excellence in the Russia Healthcare System. It applies the development of medicine of the future. It is based on a strong academic foundation in clinical medicine.
