
James Cook University's Singapore campus is wholly owned by James Cook University Australia, which is ranked among the top 2%* universities in the world. James Cook University Australia established its Singapore campus in 2003 with the intention of internationalizing its activities and university-level programs on the Singapore campus covering the areas of Business, Information Technology, Psychology, Education, Accounting, Arts, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Sports Design, Tourism and Hospitality.
James Cook University offers higher degrees by research programs# such as Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy and pathways to higher levels. Additionally, the campus offers courses at the pre-university level, specifically designed to provide a pathway for students who are unable to meet university entrance standards immediately. James Cook University's Singapore campus is located at Sims Drive. The campus gives students access to a full range of facilities and services to support their education. These include lecture and seminar rooms, libraries and associated study facilities, computer labs, financial labs and access to a variety of sports facilities.
In May 2016, the Singapore and Australia governments reviewed the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement, which took several measures to promote further cooperation on education. As part of the deal, JCU Singapore was granted branch campus status and has been allowed to brand James Cook University as the Singapore campus since July 2016. It was previously legally known as the James Cook Institute of Higher Learning. James Cook University in Singapore has the highest level of quality assurance for Private Educational Institutions. It is known as the EduTrust Star and is a symbol of recognition for outstanding achievement. EduTrust Star is awarded to those institutions for an admirable level of performance in managing their institutions and providing excellent quality of education and welfare for their students.
JCU has consistently ranked among the top 400 academic universities worldwide since 2010, as measured by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). For 2016, JCU was ranked among the top two percent of universities in the world by ARWU.
