Overview

MDX Middlesex University London is England’s Public University. It is located in Hendon, north-west of London. Middlesex University’s history can be traced back to 1878, when ST. Katherine’s College was established in Tottenham. After that, the institution merged with many institutions. It merged with Hornsey College of Art, Ponders End Technical Institute and Hendon Technical Institute. In 1973, existing institutions merged with further institutions around North London to form Middlesex Polytechnic. Middlesex Polytechnic gained the university status in 1992, and then it came to be known as Middlesex University. The University then began to develop its international presence and therefore it started collaborating with many educational institutions around the world. Its name is taken from its location within the historic county boundaries of Middlesex.

The University provides education to more than 25000 students hailing from around 140 countries. Middlesex University has six schools and departments which offer courses in Art and Design; Business; Cinematic and Games; Computer Science, Engineering and Math; Creative Media and Writing; Education; Healthcare and Social Work; Law; Natural Sciences; Performing Arts; Professional Practice and Work based Learning; Psychology: Social Sciences; Sport and Exercise Science and rehabilitation.

The University has global presence with campuses in London, Dubai, Mauritius and Malta. It has consolidated most of its activities onto the Hendon campus in London. It has been operating Dubai campus since 2004. It opened Mauritius campus in 2009 and opened its third international campus in Malta in 2013.

Middlesex University has been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize three times and has received Queen’s Award two times for its international work. The university was recognized for its high quality teaching in 2017’s government’s Teaching Excellence Framework.
