Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak started its Correspondence Cell back in 1988, with the idea of giving education via correspondence courses. But as technology moved ahead, plus the growing need for more flexible education it was later upgraded into the Directorate of Distance Education.
Then in 2012, the Directorate started putting more emphasis on higher education chances for learners, especially those from rural areas, working professionals and homemakers, basically people who needed some breathing space in their learning routine. Later on it was renamed as Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) from April 1, 2022.
MDU distance currently has a variety of traditional and professional programs to suit the evolving educational and career requirements of students.
