What is NCBS - BERI Early Career Award 2019?
The NCBS - BERI (BioEngineering Research Initiative) Early Career Award invites applications from postdoctoral researchers. The key objective of the award is to facilitate interdisciplinary interaction between physicists, biologists, engineers, medical doctors and material scientists.
Who is offering this scholarship ?
The award is being offered by the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) that considers study of biology as the mandate of research.
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
An applicant must -
1. Be a postdoctoral researcher.
2. Have a postdoctoral research experience of not more than 4 years.
3. Be able to articulate his/her scientific interests and directions.
4. Be sponsored by a local host, who is a member of inStem/NCBS faculty.
What are the benefits ?
The award includes a consolidated fellowship of INR 60,000 per month. .
How can you apply ?
Eligible candidates can apply for the award through following steps -
Step 1: Identify the laboratory with which they want to get associated.
Step 2: Login to fill the application form.Once both the candidate and the host faculty member agree to the preliminary discussions, applicants need to submit the application form to Head Academics at NCBS.
Step 3: Email a letter of support from the proposed host and at least 2 letters of references emailed directly by the referees) to acadoffice@ncbs.res.in.
Note: Include the latest CV and a research proposal containing the timeline and detailed plans of the project in the application.
Terms and Conditions
1. The cost of research is not supported by this award.
2. The host laboratory will provide the resources and space, as needed.
3. The appointment is typical for 2 years duration which can possibly be extended for a third year based on the evaluation conducted at the end of the second year.
