Gujarat University is an open institution which was established in 1949. It is known to be an affiliating university at the undergraduate level and a teaching university under the postgraduate level. It was known to be a major educational institution in the state. The university is governed and managed by several authorities like Academic Council, Executive Council, Board of Universities, Board of Extra-mural Studies, Board for Hotel's Management and Board of Studies. The university has a campus area of about 260 acres.
