Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram is earlier known as III TDM Kancheepuram, and III TD&M Kancheepuram. This is an Institute of National Importance founded in 2007 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to present design and manufacturing directly Engineering Education, research and to development the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets. It is one of the 2nd III TDMs, another is located at Jabalpur. It was announced as an Institute of National Importance (INI) by the Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India.  This institute was mentoring of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool, its new campus at Chennai. On 1 December 2014, this institute granted the status of Institute of National Importance by the Parliament (IIIT Bill Passed) upon the 5 MHRD funded IITs including IITDM Kancheepuram.
This Institute welcome challenging target, to provide high quality products in Design and Manufacturing through they can be best in the market. This character would create and develop a new generation of Engineers and technologists with the eligibility to lead Indian industries in globally beat economic environment.  Through the best training they can improve or increase the combination of cost effectiveness and efficiency along with producing world-class technology at the advance guard.

Mission of this campus is to produce best technical professional by providing experienced skilled professional training to set better mindset, moral and ethical values and inner strength with the requirement of global business so as to strengthen the national economy.  This institute will serve as an inter-disciplinary institution for education and research in the area of product Lifecycle Management (PLM) circumscribe design and manufacturing using the concepts, tools, processes and practices of the industry world over. This would be the world-class centre of excellence in education, research, development and training in Design and Manufacturing.
This campus is providing academic and research programs that join Engineering design, Manufacturing and Management with information technology. The institute offers 13 courses across 3 streams, undergraduate and postgraduate programs which concentrated on IT, Design and Manufacturing in engineering sectors.  The syllabus structure of all the program have been made by the IITs, IISC and other reputed Institute faculty members and industry partner. The aims of these programs are to providing solutions to current technological challenge in wide domains like robotics, home entertainment, telecommunication automotive systems, etc. Admission to the undergraduate programmes is based on All India Rank (AIR) in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) (JEE Main), GATE. For the foreigners’ student admission will be based on Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA).
