The National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh is earlier known as NIT Arunachal Pradesh, and the first academic class started from 2010 in its temporary campus in YUPIA, Arunachal Pradesh. It stands at 31 among all NIT group. The Union Cabinet has sanctioned 10 the newest NITs across India. But out of those newest NIT Arunachal Pradesh is to be mentor by NIT Durgapur. It is an autonomous technical institute; it works under the Ministry of Human Resources Department. Its also called Deemed University.

The ambition of this institute is to change its shape into new systematically ways and to be a role model for all institutions of higher education with creation and among all NITs in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship.  They are in a motive to identify the regional, Indian and global need to serve the society better, to utilize from all resources which are available in the Nation to encourage the students to be next entrepreneur through the formation of startups.  They cooperate with other academic research institutes and industries for the complete growth of the students, through which they can produce the best and new leaders and innovators.
