Knowing that NIT is exploring its strength by developing the new building of NIT at Jalandhar, in India. Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar is also known as PREC. (Punjab Regional Engineering College), is a public higher education institute which is located at Jalandhar, Punjab. Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar is the 31th Regional Engineering Colleges of India which was installed in 1961 as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Punjab. And was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) by the Government of India on 17 October 2002, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi.  Under the act of Parliament 2007, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India stated that the Institute as Institute of National Importance.

 The life work of this institute to make a best unique identification through the research, technical, creativity and innovative articles for development of the society. Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology want to build their student into the highest intelligence with the help of extraordinary knowledge, make them understand the human values and encourage the talented student, push them potential and providing the right direction to turns out in professional and providing the sprit to make socialistic honest technologists and engineers. The motive of this Institute to develop the knowledge and explore the authority. So that they can contribute to society and create a best corner for a successful career. Many courses are offered by the NITJ in UG programme, PG programs, and M.Sc. programme, Ph.D. These all courses are conducted by the Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar every year; for taking the admission in NITJ applicants have to go through the various Entrance Exams-JEE (for B.Tech), GATE (for M.tech), JAM (for M.Sc). Every year seats sizes increase by 33%-35%, more than 1000 student admitted every year, similarly the number of seat of post graduate also duplicated as of 2018.
