The establishment of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Mizoram under the name of ‘prominent institute of technical education and research’ was started in 2010. The institute provides high quality education in engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences with a modern teaching curriculum which is oriented towards industry. NIT Mizoram campus also encourages research collaborations for academic excellence. It has tie-ups with IIT Madras for eligible B.Academic exchange and opportunities for direct Ph.D. admission for tech students, improving higher education and research opportunities.

Mizoram NIT is still making efforts to enhance its academic status by engaging itself in sponsored research programmes and tie-ups with premier institutes like IIM, Visakhapatnam and IIT, Madras. The institute also provides excellent placement opportunities with 91.9% campus placement and 100% internship opportunities for eligible students. The institute is focused on producing industry ready students as it is expanding and developing its permanent campus as well as strengthening its relations with recruiters and organizations.
