The National Institute of Technology Patna is simply known as Bihar School of Engineering and Bihar College of Engineering, it is a public engineering institution which is located in Patna, Bihar, India. National Institute of Technology Patna is the one of the 18th National Institute of Technology which is created by the Ministry of Human Resource of Department, on 28.01.2004, Government has renamed it to NIT Patna. This institute is the 6th oldest Engineering Institute of India. Out of all NITs institutes this institute is on the 31 position. Its first Educational Program was introduced in 1924. In 2002 the Government of India decided to promote the all Regional Engineering College to National Institute of Technology (NIT) Status, with the aim of having at least one NIT per state. In 2007, it was accepted Institute of National Importance status in accordance with the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT Patna will very soon set up its new campus at Bihta. The institute has recently signed a MOU with the Central Public Works Department for its construction. The new campus will be constructed in three phases on 125 acres of land which is allotted by the state government and has a sanctioned an amount of 500 cr. under funding scheme for higher education/technical institutes. It is expected that it will complete by March 2022. NIT Patna aims to set up very high quality of education standards and holds long record of academic excellence and has been on the fast track of development. It is contributing to India and the World in field of Scientific and technical education along with research, serve as a valuable resource for industry and society; and to be a source of pride for all Indian.  The life time work of this institute is to generate new knowledge by emerging with research and to promote academic growth by offering state-of-the-art undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The courses which are offered by the Institute are: B.Arch, B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Plan, Integrated M.Sc, and M.Tech + Ph. D. This institute takes admission on the behalf of Entrance Exams, student have to go various types of Exam- JEE Main (for B.Tech), NATA (for B. Arch), GATE (for M.Tech and M.Plan).  NIT Patna offers three years full-time Ph.D. research program to candidates having passed Master’s/ M/Phil Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate. NIT Patna Ph.D. Admission will be done on the basis Entrance Exam conducted by the Institute.
