National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka is also as known Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC), also known as NITK Surathkal is a public higher Engineering Educational System which is located at Surathkal, Karnataka. National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka, is one of 32th Regional Engineering Colleges of India which was installed in 1960. On June 26, 2002, KREC was transformed into National Institute of Technology and has status of Deemed University fully authorized by the Government of India. Under the National Institute of Technology Act-2007(29 to 2007), the institute permitted the “Institution of National Importance”. NITK celebrated its 50th Institute Foundation day on 6 August 2009. The year-long Golden Jubilee celebrations were inaugurated on 10 August 2009; very soon it’s going to be Diamond Jubilee in durable time August 2019 to August 2020. it’s the residential campus, nearest to the Arabian Sea.  National Highway 66 runs through the campus and providing best services at the highest mode of access. The Campus is spreading over on an area of 317 acres with full of greenery landscape, and has its private beach with full of lighthouse. National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka offers program in Undergraduate, Programming in post graduate along with an MBA course has been recently introduced by the Humanities department. NITK also offers MCA (Master of Computer Application) course for graduate students in which admission is done on the based on NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test). NITK from 2003 is offering Doctor of Philosophy Ph.D program for M.tech and other post graduate students. To get admission in NITK candidate must have to go through the various Entrances like JEE Main, GMAT, IIT-JAM etc, and for the Foreign Student Exam will conduct on the basis of Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) because 10% seat of in undergraduate have reserved for them by the institute.
