Tezpur University was established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament. According to the statutes, the objectives of this Central University are to strive to offer employment-oriented and interdisciplinary courses to meet the local and regional aspirations and development needs of the state of Assam, as well as to offer courses and promote research in areas of special and direct relevance to the region and in emerging areas in Science and Technology. The University offers a wide range of UG, PG, Ph.D., Diploma, and Certificate courses in a variety of disciplines and specialisations. Tezpur University Admissions to all courses are based on an entrance exam administered by the university.
