Velammal Engineering College was founded in 1995-96 with the goal of providing high-quality education. It is a non-minority, self-financing college affiliated with Anna University, accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and ISO certified. The Velammal Educational Trust is a recognised non-minority service organisation founded in 1986 by Thiru. M.V. Muthuramalingam with the goal of instilling in the young a sense of discipline that will help them grow into helpful and capable citizens. “Dedication, Determination, and Distinction” are the Trust's watchwords. 

 It offers a lovely campus with cutting-edge amenities such as dorms, libraries, laboratories, large lecture halls, sports facilities, and a health care centre. The college was also accredited by NAAC with an ‘A' grade and a 4th place ranking among Engineering Colleges.
