Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established by an Act of Parliament, 1985, just to provide higher education in an easy way, affordable and inclusive. IGNOU has a large network of Regional Centres and Learner Support Centres in India and abroad, catering to students from all backgrounds.

IGNOU is a leader in the Open Universities as it is ranked as the No.1 Open University by NIRF, and it is also the first Open University to get A++ accreditation from NAAC. The university provides undergraduate and post-graduate courses, diploma, certificate, skill based courses and online courses.

Technology-driven learning is also being adopted at IGNOU with the use of platforms like SWAYAM, SWAYAM PRABHA and e-Gyankosh, rendering education more flexible and accessible. IGNOU has a large number of academic and online programmes that are still serving the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with equal ardor while advocating for access, affordability, equity and excellence in higher education.
