CAT Exam Eligibility 2021

As per the information, this year's CAT examination will be conducted by IIM Indore on November 28, 2021. The forms for CAT registration will be available on the official website in the first week of August 2019. Before filling the form, the candidate must go through the Eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam. The Eligibility criteria have not been much changed by IIM Indore for CAT 2021 Examination. As per the eligibility criteria, a candidate must meet the parameters set by the IIMs for appearing for the CAT entrance exam. Following are the criteria on which a candidate is evaluated whether he is eligible or not for giving the exam.

  • For appearing in the CAT exam, the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or the candidate must possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Candidates belonging to the General or OBC category are required to score a minimum of 50% in graduation or in equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates from Scheduled Tribe (SC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Person with Disability (PWD) are required to score a minimum of 45% in Graduation or in equivalent qualification.
  • Those candidates who have completed their graduation and are waiting for results and those candidates who are appearing for the final year of the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination can also apply for CAT.
  • If the candidate has done graduation in the old system of 2 years graduation then he/she is also eligible to appear for CAT but the degree must be UGC recognized.
  • Aspirants with any professional degree can also apply for the CAT examination provided that they have completed the degree with the requisite percentage of marks.
  • There is no restriction regarding the age of the candidate appearing for the CAT examination.
  • The candidates’ percentage of marks would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University or Institution.
  • In the case of grades/CGPA, conversion of grades to a percentage of marks is required and it would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/Institution.
  • If there is no scheme provided by the university/institution for conversion of grades into an equivalent percentage, then the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result by 100.
